1st Year Portrait Sessions

Thank you for scheduling your 1st Year Session!

Your 1 year session is here!  Your little one should be able to sit up and may even be standing and walking!

We can begin to use even more props than we did at 6 months. Baby will usually sit on or in small props (baskets, small chairs, etc).  Baby may also be able to sit on smaller props, benches, and beds. Please be prepared to stay close to baby to make sure she is safe! Most likely at this age baby will run off from our set, and this is okay!  Be prepared to return her several times!  More than likely we will get the photos we want, we just need patience and understanding.  It only takes a quick moment to capture the expression we want before he is off again, but sometimes it may take quite a bit longer to get to that moment! If something doesn’t work and you have your heart set on it, we always have later sessions to capture that image! If baby needs to eat, change, or just have a time-out due to fussiness, that is not a problem and the sessions are scheduled for 2 hours to take that into account.

Indoor Shots
We will do several prop shots with backdrops, or even some simple photos of baby alone. Baby may do well sitting or standing at this age. Parents may need to assist in stabilizing baby during some images (hands will be edited out).

Go Outdoors
If weather permits, we can do some outdoors shots as well.  Babies like to sit on the ground, play with toys,  grass, flowers, and leaves. We can also do prop setups outdoors just as we do indoors.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring as many outfits as you would like,  in varying colors and styles. Don’t forget hats, headbands, jackets, etc.  Bring jeans and dresses for girls. Special blankets always work well. If they have a special toy, bring that as well. If you have something that is important to your family, or some things your family is interested in (sports items, musical instruments etc), bring those as well! I like to know and plan for any themed shots ahead of time, so just let me know what you have in mind!  (We will talk about the specifics of any shots on the phone or in e-mail).

Extra bottles, a small non-messy snack, diapers, wipes, and extra clothes for mom/dad in case of an accident.  A favorite toy may soothe baby if he is upset or frightened and a favorite blanket.

If you have added a Cake Smash Mini Session, this will take place after the first birthday session is over.
Thanks and look forward to meeting you!
